In any community there are some individuals who hit the headlines
and become famous or infamous for a variety of reasons. In the
same community there will be a larger number of people who form
the core of the society: mayors, tradesmen, people who organise
social events, start societies, provide services to the town. This
exhibition shines a spotlight on some of these people.
The information is based on a project undertaken by a group of
Museum Friends and Volunteers to research the lives of people who
have made a contribution to the life of Launceston. The aim is to
build up an archive of material in the Museum which can be used for
future research purposes.
